Sunday, August 31, Buffalo,
Weekly Candlelight Vigil for Peace,
7:00-9:00 PM ,
bear witness for peace, enjoy
solidarity and good music, speak-out or read a poem in a family-friendly
setting. Say yes to peace -- and no
to war, violence and military occupation everywhere. Delaware Park - Aggasiz Circle Entrance,
Parkside Ave & Route 198, Buffalo, NY, Enter Delaware Park at the Aggasiz
Circle entrance, on Parkside Ave just north of Route 198. You can only enter

exit, go north a couple of blocks, and find a way to turn around. The
entrance is marked by a park sign, and also by a street sign for E. Meadow
Dr. We will meet in the parking area about 100 yards from the park entrance.
The vigil will be visible to traffic on Parkside and the 198. At our
vigil on 4/6, there was complete consensus that we would continue to gather
from 7:00-9:00 PM in spite of the time change
and lengthening days in order to continue to encourage family participation.
A sound system is available for speakers, musicians, poets and CD's.

Wednesday, August 13, Buffalo, next
Organizers' Network Planning Meeting,
7:30 PM, Rust
Belt Books, 202 Allen, near but West of Elmwood, at
7:30 PM. Rust
Belt Books will appear to be closed. Enter through Sibely's (sp) just West
of Rust Belt Books, and proceed to the pass-through door near the bathrooms
in back. This is an open meeting of regional progressive organizers
who are committed to setting aside differences and working together on
projects of common interest. The group has organized successful
collaborative anti-war rallies, major bus trips for out of town
demonstrations, mini activist fairs, presentations and discussions and, most
recently, the Faces of Iraq Traveling Exhibition and receptions at the CEPA
Gallery. In addition to such collective projects, our members maintain
regional calendars and discussion lists, provide logistic support for local
progressive rallies and continue to develop the WNY Progressive Directory --
individual initiatives in the name of our common progressive interests.
Our general interest is in fostering collaboration for greater effectiveness
in the progressive community of Western New York. If you're an active
progressive organizer and are willing to leave ideology and dogma at the
door, please feel free to join us. We find strength not just in
numbers but also in good company and solidarity. Call 698-1232
