As of right now, UB allows 75 companies to manufacture UB apparel, but doesn't mandate that these companies respect their workers' rights. More likely than not, our clothing is being made with the blood and sweat of abused workers. This is unacceptable! The Worker Rights Consortium (WRC) is a monitoring body that exists to help colleges and universities assure their apparel is made under safe and fair working conditions. Already over 100 schools are affiliated with the WRC, including Yale, Cornell, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. The UB Students Against Sweatshops (UBSAS) have been meeting with the UB  Administration since the fall, urging them to join the swelling ranks of schools affiliated with the WRC.  However... THE UB ADMINISTRATION HAS SAID THEY WILL NOT AFFILIATE WITH THE WRC!!! Tell UB President Greiner what you think...  For more information, email ubsas@yahoo.com

Simon Harak visited Iraq 3 times to inspect the damage of the war, bombing, and sanctions.  While there, he spoke with UN and humanitarian workers, and with religious, educational and community leaders to determine the effects of the 12-year siege of Iraq.
