Letter Writing
- 20030102
We agreed to rotate responsibility on a monthly basis among our
respective organizations for letter writing to editors (and politicians?). Each
person who volunteers will become the focal point for letter writing within
their own organizations. Volunteers for the first three months of this
year are:
January: Sandy Carrubba, Green Party of Erie
County
February: Dawn Marie Kyle, WNY Peace Center
March: Ann Marie Cusella,
Amnesty International Lcl 565
While not specifically discussed and agreed, we hope the efforts and experiences
will be shared with the rest of the group.

Contact List for
Event Notice Re-Distribution - 20030102
In order to improve distribution of flyers and
announcements of events and activities, we agreed to share a list of volunteers
and their email addresses for people who will take responsibility for forwarding
and re-distribution of such material through their own organization's
distribution channels. The list of names and email addresses will not be shared
outside the Organizers' Network active membership. A sign-up sheet was passed
around and Jim Whitlock agreed to transcribe it and circulate it to Organizers'
Network members.

Jim created an HTML document from the sign-up
sheet with email addresses provided, added the entire membership roster for
reference without email addresses, and circulated the document to the
Organizers' Network listserv on 20030106. We do not yet have re-distribution
volunteers for all organizations represented by our members. 20030107.

PR and Media
Strategies Working Group - 20030102
Considerable interest was expressed in a discussion of various strategies that could be employed to attract the attention of the public, the
press, and the media. We agreed to form a working group to discuss such
strategies and to report findings and conclusions back to the Organizers'
Network membership. A sign-up sheet for interested volunteers was passed
around and Jim Whitlock agreed to create an email discussion list at the BuffaloPeacePeople site to support volunteers.

A skeleton listserv, bpp-mediapr, is now defined and
will be populated from the sign-up sheet and activated shortly. It is a
closed un-moderated list with private archives and hidden email addresses.
Membership will be limited to Organizers' Network members until the group
decides otherwise. 20030107

Day - Buffalo Events - 20030102
We discussed the possibility of organizing a rally/demonstration
in Buffalo for those who would not be going to Washington, DC for the IAC/ANSWER
anti-war demonstrations and Direct Actions. Since most of those present
will either be going to Washington or will be out of town for other reasons, and
since all of our organizations are already spread so thin, we all converged
rapidly on a suggestion to try to join-in with whatever may already be planned
for MLK Day events in Buffalo on the 20th. This could be a good
opportunity to start to explore extending our network to activist organizations
in Buffalo's African-American community. Several
members volunteered to try to find contacts and information about events being
planned.
