From: "IAC Buffalo" Subject: SAT APRIL 5 at UB AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDENT CONFERENCE Date: Monday, March 31, 2003 3:42 AM BUFFALO ANSWER is sending along an announcement of a conference that will be held at UB on April 5th. The title of this conference is "Africans in America: Standing Against Empire and Creating a Just and Equitable Planet" Khalil Nieves and African American students will present a program which intends to connect the US war against Iraq to the war that was and continues to be waged against people of African descent and millions of other peoples. The conference has four themes: -Global War: the Nation State/Capitalist Economy and White Supremacy -Black Religious Traditions -There is a River: Our Liberation Heritage -Search for a New World: The Role of People of African Descent in Creating a New World. In addition, they will attempt to create a dialogue and working relationship between the African American community, the antiwar and Global Justice communities. The conference will be held at UB North Campus, 330 Student Union from 9:30-3:30 pm.
