From: "Brian Brown-Cashdollar" Subject: Buffalo Coalition for Progressive Media: Amy Goodman may be coming to Buffalo in November Date: Monday, September 22, 2003 3:12 PM This update is being sent to you either because you have attended a meeting for the Coalition for Progressive Media, an earlier incarnation of it, or your name was provided me. If you want to be removed just let me know. ------------------------------------------------------- Update: The Coalition for Progressive Media has met three times and laid the ground work for bringing shows like Democracy Now to Buffalo. Here's where it stands: The options are negotiating with WNED-AM to bring shows like Democracy Now, Counterspin, Free Speech Radio News. We should meet with them in the next two weeks. The other option is to buy time on a commercial AM station. We have been quoted rates as low as $60/hr. We are currently negotiating rates with at least 2 stations and hope to have written offers within a week or so. We've been talking to Democracy Now and it looks like AMY GOODMAN is available and willing to come up to Buffalo to speak at a fundraiser in November. We are currently negotiating for a location. Expect to hear a lot more about this soon. We have set a near term goal of $10,000 and hope to set up an account with a local non-profit that has agreed in principle to act as a pass through for the project. If you're interested in getting involved our next meeting is Thurs. October 2 at 7 PM at WNYCOSH. WNYCOSH is in the Tri-Main Building, located at 2495 Main Street, Suite 438, Buffalo, NY 14214.
