From: "Joel Rose" Subject: CACGEC members & friends: picket at County Hall; s.c. meeting early; radio interview Date: Thursday, August 21, 2003 2:42 PM Summary: (1) CACGEC's informational picket will return to County Hall, Monday 4-5 p.m. (2) Steering Committee meeting on Monday will begin at 5:20 p.m., not 6 p.m. (3) Bob Hill's radio interview with me to be broadcast this weekend ========================================================================================= Discussion: (1) CACGEC's informational picket will return to County Hall, Monday 4-5 p.m. There being no Cheektowaga Town Board meeting this week, CACGEC will conduct an informational picket on Monday, August 25, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., in front of County Hall, 95 Franklin Street, in downtown Buffalo. We will picket on the east side of Franklin Street, between Church Street and West Eagle Street, in front of the new County Hall, directly across the street from the old County Hall. As always, this is a non-confrontational event. We do wish to engage passersby in conversation, but not to obstruct their movement in any way. Signs and leaflets will be provided, but you are free to bring your own. The choice of location for the picket this week reflects our continuing opposition to a casino anywhere in the County. A casino in Cheektowaga, or anywhere else in the county, would be a drag on the economy of the entire county, and the harmful social effects would not stop at the town line. We are continuing to decide on a week-by-week basis whether and where to picket. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (2) Steering Committee meeting on Monday will begin at 5:20 p.m., not 6 p.m. A number of the participants in the Steering Committee meetings are expected to join us in the picket. In order to avoid their having to wait around for an hour between the picket and the Steering Committee meeting, we decided to move up the time of the meeting to 5:20 p.m. on Monday. Regardless of whether you join the picket, you are welcome to attend the CACGEC Steering Committee meeting, Monday, August 25, at 5:20 p.m., at 1272 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (3) Bob Hill's radio interview with me to be broadcast this weekend Bob Hill, a journalist with Infinity Broadcasting Corporation and a friend of CACGEC, interviewed me for about half an hour this morning, mostly about the casino issue.
