From: "Joel Rose" To: Subject: CACGEC members & friends: picket Monday at County Hall Date: Thursday, August 07, 2003 9:39 AM CACGEC will conduct an informational picket on Monday, August 11, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., in front of County Hall, 95 Franklin Street, in downtown Buffalo. We will assemble on the east side of Franklin Street, between Church Street and West Eagle Street, in front of the new County Hall, directly across the street from the old County Hall. The choice of location for the picket this week reflects the continuing uncertainty as to the site the Senecas will seek for a casino, the County Executive's recent promotion of a waterfront site, and our continuing opposition to a casino anywhere in the County. For the time being, we will decide on a week-by-week basis whether and where to picket. We had a very successful picket this past Monday at Cheektowaga Town Hall. Thanks to our Cheektowaga contingent for taking the lead in organizing it. In general, we had good media coverage. However, channel 2 showed up early, left before 6, just as people were arriving, and reported that only one person was in attendance! In order to avoid this kind of problem henceforth, I think we should all make an effort to be not just on time, but a few minutes early if possible. I hope to see many of you at County Hall on Monday!
